In a story that sounds more like a movie than reality, a woman named Sandra made an unusual decision—she bought a chimpanzee and decided to raise him as if he were human. Along with her husband, Jerry, they paid a whopping $50,000 to bring the chimp into their home, naming him Travis.
Sandra and Jerry treated Travis like a child from the moment he arrived. They bottle-fed him, dressed him in clothes, and even let him sleep in a crib right next to their bed. Travis quickly became more than just a pet—he was a full-fledged member of the family.
They taught him how to use the toilet and eat meals at the dinner table, just like a human. Travis even accompanied Sandra and Jerry to restaurants, where he sat politely with them, much to the amusement of the locals. As time passed, Travis became somewhat of a local celebrity.
