In the twisted world of bizarre crimes, the story of Chicken Man stands out as one of the most disturbing. Buckle up, because this one is seriously wild.
So, Chicken Man, as he’s known, was a small-time weed dealer in New York, living on the edge of homelessness. He wasn’t your average guy—he constantly ranted about how he’d be a cult leader or even president one day. Oh, and he had a pet rooster that sat on his shoulder pretty much everywhere he went. Yep, that’s where the nickname Chicken Man came from.
One day, he meets a couple—Sylvia and Sean. They offer him a deal: pay half the rent, and he can live in their two-bedroom apartment. Desperate for a place to stay, Chicken Man agrees and moves in. While he was an odd character, he had a generous side—he’d cook up huge batches of food, like soup and pancakes, and take it to the park to feed his homeless friends. It was a kind gesture, even though most people found him eccentric.
Not long after he moves in, Sylvia and Sean break up and leave the apartment, and suddenly, Chicken Man is stuck. He can’t afford the rent on his own and doesn’t want to end up back on the streets, so he starts looking for a new roommate.
That’s when Monica enters the picture. She’s a dancer from Switzerland, and Chicken Man is instantly smitten. After they hook up, he convinces her to move in. Things seem okay at first—Monica’s name goes on the lease—but trouble brews when she starts bringing home random guys. Chicken Man’s jealousy kicks in hard. He likes Monica a lot, but she only sees him as a friend and a roommate. They start arguing, and things get heated.
Then Monica drops a bomb—she tells him she wants him out of the apartment. This doesn’t sit well with Chicken Man. In his mind, he’s the one who brought her there, and now she’s kicking him out? Furious, he starts telling his homeless friends at the park that he’s going to kill her. But here’s the thing—Chicken Man’s always rambling about crazy stuff, so no one takes him seriously.
But then it happens. One day, Monica confronts him, demanding he move out immediately. Something in Chicken Man snaps. He punches Monica in the head, strangles her with an extension cord, and stabs her 30 times, brutally killing her. He dismembers her body and stashes the remains in the bathtub.
A few days later, Sylvia—remember her?—drops by the apartment. She lets herself in and finds a pot boiling on the stove. Curious, she lifts the lid and is horrified to find Monica’s head inside the pot. She rushes to the bathroom and sees the rest of Monica’s remains in the tub. In a panic, Sylvia pages Chicken Man, and when they meet up, he calmly confesses to killing Monica. Sylvia freaks out, tells him to get rid of the body, and bolts.
Chicken Man goes back to the apartment to "clean up." He puts some of Monica’s remains in the freezer, packs others into a duffel bag, and stashes it at a bus station. The rest? He boils in the pot on the stove. And here’s where things get even creepier—during all of this, Chicken Man continues feeding his homeless friends. Yup, he’s still out in the park serving soup. Oh, and he casually tells his friends that he killed Monica. But once again, no one believes him because, well, he’s always talking nonsense.
Then the rumors start. Word spreads that Chicken Man has been feeding his friends soup made from Monica’s body. Is it true? Maybe. There’s no way to confirm it, but the idea alone is enough to make your skin crawl.
Eventually, someone reports Chicken Man to the police, and they start looking into Monica’s disappearance. When they question Sylvia, she spills everything—the soup pot, the bathtub, the horror she walked in on. The police track Chicken Man down, and when they arrest him, he doesn’t even try to deny it.
At his trial, Chicken Man is found not guilty by reason of insanity—he’s diagnosed with severe schizophrenia. Instead of prison, he’s sent to a maximum-security psychiatric facility, where he remains to this day.
And that’s the bizarre, twisted saga of Chicken Man. Shout out to New York for giving us one of the most chilling and downright strange cases out there.
